Race The Tide is the latest project from multi-instrumentalist Jesse Macht. His debut album is rooted in a timeless, evocative Americana sound, while also drawing on contemporary indie-pop and electronic influences recorded at Lord Huron’s studio Whispering Pines and Highland Park’s Sound 69 Studio. Conceived after Macht was diagnosed and eventually cured of an extra electrical impulse in his heart which risked cardiac arrest, newly confronted with his mortality, he recouped and recaptured his spirit compelling him to unabashedly chase down his dreams.
That theme germinated for the next few years as Jesse originated and performed in a Home Concert Salon series he created for fans around the world called “Sunsets At." His mission inspired the brand of Airstream Trailers to partner with this singer/songwriter to tour the US and entertain and impassion his audiences last autumn. “I experienced an intimacy and witnessed a different kind of powerful connection between me and my listeners that I’d never experienced at concerts before. I discovered a unique interaction that patrons long for - to share that space and have the chance to express their art, their crafts, their stories as we gather and commune together." This spring, concurrent with Jesse's latest release, Race The Tide will embark on hosting and performing the next leg of “Sunsets At” : a Traveling Arts and Cultures series tour.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in the world of show business (his father, veteran actor Stephen Macht and his brother, Gabriel Macht currently stars as “Harvey Specter” in the tv series, “Suits”), Macht’s music has been featured in dozens of film and television placements including The Voice, LA and NY Ink, Fox’s The Next Great American Band, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and much of Viacom’s programming. He has toured and co-written with many notable composers including Sean Douglas (Thomas Rhett, Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato), RoboPop (Maroon 5, Gym Class Heroes), Tyler Lyle (The Midnight) and many more. Under his own name, Macht has released two singer/songwriter efforts: The Acts of Providence (produced by Aaron Tap, guitarist for Matt Nathanson) and Suitcase Heart, the latter of which garnered him recognition as AXS’ Top 3 Los Angeles Breakout Artist of 2014.
While Macht writes, sings, and plays the guitar and keyboards on much of the Race The Tide EP, he also co-produces the effort with Justin Tocket (Anders Osborne, Pet Fangs). Other players include Rob Humphreys (David Ryan Harris) and Gavin Salmon on drums, Tyler Carroll (Allen Stone) on bass, Ken Belcher on guitar, and Will Herrington (Lukas Graham), and Ben Allemon (Ryan Adams, Grace Potter) on keys.
